Using Your Weekend Warrior in June

As we move into Summer, skiers and snowboarders prepare for an annual ritual: throwing their boot bags into the abyss that is the back of their closet, never to be seen or heard from again (until Thanksgiving).

For years, I too partook in this ceremony. Alas, this year is different! This year, my boot bag has been given a higher purpose, serving me deep into the summer months and carrying out missions far beyond lugging my ski boots around.

As you may have guessed by now, the boot bag I use is The Weekend Warrior (shocking). As winter turns to spring, my Weekend Warrior will take on a new role. Now, to most of you this might sound crazy. A boot bag being used in the middle of the summer? I get it. The standard boot bag would have no purpose unless you were moving and ran out of boxes, suitcases, or literally anything else, because… why the hell would you use a boot bag? But The Weekend Warrior’s shape and design give it far more usability than your ordinary boot bag.

So without further ado, here are 6 ways to use your Boot Bag in June:

For that weekend getaway

You know all those pockets that can be used for ski gear? Yeah, there's no actual rule on what goes into them. Going up to your cabin in the woods? Please listen carefully:

  • The boot compartment is just as good for rugged hiking boots

  • Throw your toiletries in

  • Some extra layers for when it gets cold

  • You already knows there's pockets for socks and underwear

  • Bring that book you started

  • A charger for that iPad you’ll use for Netflix when you thought you’d read the book

  • Toss in that water bottle

  • You can even use the helmet canopy to attach an extra jacket.

Holy crap that was a mouthful. I think you get the point.

Your personal item on that flight to somewhere sick

Checking bags doesn’t just suck when it's ski gear. It sucks year round. So avoid that pain and just take The Weekend Warrior instead. Pack up that boot compartment with clothing using packing cubes and throw in every essential you could possibly need. I know you’re an overpacker, so take along the Weekend Warrior with ease by sliding it into the lovely suitcase sleeve on the back. The personal item and carry-on combo for an incredible trip.

No checked bag fees either, so those savings can go straight to the airport bar.

Going to the gym?

I bring running shoes and flat soled shoes - both fit beautifully in the main compartment. And the vents work just as well on your smelly gym shoes as they do for your ski boots. Change of clothing for after? Done. Oh, and if you are lucky enough to go to one of those fancy gyms with a cafe that serves 17 dollar smoothies, you can bring your laptop and do some fancy work after.

Business Trips!

I have to shout my dad out for this one. About a month after he got his bag, he decided he had no interest in bringing anything more than some work outfits and his laptop on his work trip to Austin. Apparently it went super well. He called me ecstatic about how little he needed to bring with him. I mean this guy HATES suitcases. So The Weekend Warrior is business trip certified according to pops.

A pillow at the beach

Walk with me.

You ever show up to the beach with a towel and think to yourself - man, it would be nice if I had something to rest my head on. Here it is. Here is that nice thing. All you need to do is bring an extra towel and stuff it inside. Boom - you have a sand and element-proof pillow.

A punching bag

Hear me out…all you need to do is stuff it with a bedsheet. It can handle the punches guaranteed.

At the end of the day, these are merely suggestions. The last two may be really pushing it but if you can dream it you can do it. Like, a punching bag is a very valid use if you think about it.

I digress…

The point is, the Weekend Warrior is the first boot bag that shouldn’t spend April - October collecting dust and cobwebs in the back of your closet.

Keep using it as the seasons change. Bring it with you everywhere - I’m betting it doesn’t let you down.
